About Milagro Saints
The Milagro Saints were formed in NYC in 1995 by Stephen D. Ineson, Lee Kirby and Joyce Bowden. Stephen came from an art school background in Reading, England before becoming a writer-member of The Jack Rubies. They toured extensively with They Might Be Giants on two critically acclaimed TVT Records releases. Joyce is a former member of Jerry Harrison's Casual Gods (Sire). She recorded with the Tom Tom Club (Sire), David Byrne (LukaBop) and worked with the late avant-guard composer Arthur Russell (Point). Lee is a former Chicago blues band promoter and musician. He met Stephen in a club on New York's upper West Side where Lee was sitting in and invited him to come to an open jam at his rooftop apartment in midtown Manhattan (near the original Birdland), also frequented by Joyce. This opened the door to a musical partnership. They all relocated to Raleigh, NC and in 1996, added Robert Shi and Ernie Jamison to complete the line-up. Robert is a Berklee College of Music graduate and a former member of Boston veterans Talking to Animals, Raleigh's Syrup and Interscope recording artists Dish. Ernie is a graduate of the Musician's Institute of Hollywood, CA and is a key member of Raleigh's music scene. The Milagro Saints were officially born. Their eclectic histories have been richly complimented on their debut with an orchestra of guest players (fiddle, cello, mandolin, horns and vibes). Milagro Saints was produced by Jerry Kee (Superchunk and Portastatic), mastered by Brent Lambert (Whiskeytown and Squirrel Nut Zippers) of The Kitchen Mastering in Chapel Hill, NC and recorded at Duck-Kee Studios in Raleigh, NC. Track 9 was produced by Chip Crell at Undertoad Studios in Cary, NC. |
